rodelanoHello everyone,
I am planning to get an Ikea Platsa system because I need flexible storage solutions. I really like the design and the adaptability, but I am not very experienced with furniture assembly. My specific question is: Are there assembly services that specialize in assembling Ikea Platsa furniture?
If so, what are your experiences with these services—especially regarding scheduling, reliability, and costs? Or would you recommend using Ikea’s own assembly service or a local carpenter/shop instead?
I look forward to your opinions, tips, and further recommendations! Thanks in advance.

Hello rodelano,
Your question is very well structured – the PLATSA system is indeed not entirely straightforward, as it consists of many individual modules and is planned in a custom way. Regarding assembly services:
Ikea offers its own assembly service, which is not always immediately available and can be quite expensive. Many local tradespeople or private service providers also specialize in Ikea furniture, including PLATSA. My recommendation would be to clarify in advance whether the service provider has experience with this system, as the special feature of PLATSA is that it is a modular and partly complex slot-and-screw system.
If you have some DIY skills, it’s worth investing time in the assembly instructions, as this can potentially save costs. If not, experienced professionals are the better choice.

Hello rodelano,
regarding the assembly service for Ikea PLATSA, I would like to go into more detail about the technical aspects and possibilities, especially since PLATSA furniture, due to its modules and combinations, makes assembly more complex.
- PLATSA often uses special brackets and fixing systems that are not automatically familiar or routine for every known "Ikea assembly service."
- It is advisable to explicitly ask service providers about their experience with PLATSA, as otherwise assembly may be incorrect or take too long.
- Some providers only know standard Ikea systems like Kallax or Billy; PLATSA often requires precise alignment and, if needed, wall mounting for stabilization.
My question is: Where will you place the PLATSA? In a rental apartment or an owner-occupied house? The substrate also plays a role in assembly, especially for wall-integrated modules.
In general, I recommend an on-site appointment so the assembler can assess the setting. Costs vary depending on the scope and time required, which should be clearly discussed.

My question: Where will you install the PLATSA? In a rental apartment or an owner-occupied home? The type of surface also matters for installation, especially with wall-integrated modules.Good question. I plan to set up the furniture in a rental apartment on a solid interior wall. That’s why wall mounting is pretty much essential. I have some DIY experience but I’m not very skilled. It’s important to me that the system is stable and secure in the end, as I want to use it extensively for storage.
Therefore, I think having it professionally installed really makes sense. Are there any recommendations on how to find the right company, especially with experience in PLATSA? Maybe there are specific keywords or certifications to look out for?
