Hello everyone, I am looking for a proper and streak-free method to clean the glass fronts of my IKEA Metod kitchen. The fronts are durable, but I want to avoid damaging them with the wrong cleaning agents or techniques, or leaving unsightly streaks. Which cleaning products work best, and what procedure has proven effective for you to gently clean the surface and achieve an optimal result without streaks or residue?

Hello Buryder61, your question about properly cleaning IKEA Metod glass fronts is very good and shows that you care about careful maintenance. Generally, glass fronts are quite resilient, but to avoid streaks, a multi-step method is recommended: - First, use a standard household, non-abrasive glass cleaner or a mild all-purpose cleaner. - Use a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. - After cleaning, thoroughly dry and polish the surface with a second, clean microfiber cloth. It is important not to use paper towels or rough sponges, as they can cause scratches. Clean in circular motions and rinse or change the cloth regularly. Some users also recommend a mixture of clear water with a few drops of window cleaner to reduce residue. I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Hello, I can only agree and would like to add that for glass fronts, the classic "water plus a drop of dish soap" is often enough. It is important that the cloth is well wrung out, as too much water often causes streaks. Then wipe again with a dry microfiber cloth to make it shine beautifully! For more stubborn grease or fingerprints, I occasionally use vinegar water, but use it sparingly to avoid it being too harsh. Sometimes the simplest solution is also the most charming. 😊

Good morning, I would like to share a small tutorial on how to get the IKEA Metod glass fronts truly streak-free. First, keep the following in mind: - Never spray the cleaner directly onto the glass front; instead, dampen the cloth to avoid too much moisture at the edges. - I recommend using distilled water to prevent limescale spots, especially if you live in an area with hard water. - A neutral glass cleaner or a mixture of 1 part rubbing alcohol and 3 parts water works well as a cleaner. - Use a clean microfiber cloth that does not leave fiber residues for application. - After cleaning, polish with a second, dry, and clean microfiber cloth until the shine is restored. Important: Do not rub too hard and avoid soaking the glass, as this makes it easier for dirt to settle. If there are water spots, special glass cleaning wipes or a window leather (chamois) can help, but these should only be used when necessary. Finally, a tip: If you wipe the fronts regularly, deep cleaning becomes easier and there are fewer problems with streaks.

In short: Use a microfiber cloth, glass cleaner, or a diluted dish soap solution. Never work with the surface too wet, and wipe dry immediately. This way, the glass fronts of the Metod kitchen remain streak-free.

I understand the challenge well when you still see streaks despite cleaning carefully.

This is especially important because scratches trap dirt and can make surfaces look dull quickly. Apart from that, does it perhaps make sense to approach cleaning with a relaxed time frame? Sometimes the results get worse when you’re in a hurry and press or wring the cloth too often. Try being a bit more patient and using good-quality cloths — that made a big difference for me.
