Hello dear community,

I have Metod glass fronts in my kitchen, which I would like to clean without leaving streaks. I have noticed that conventional glass cleaners or damp cloths often leave streaks, which looks especially unpleasant on the glossy surfaces. Since I don’t want to damage the material of the Metod fronts and want to clean them as efficiently as possible, I am looking for the best method to get the glass fronts clean and streak-free.

Does anyone have proven tips or specific cleaning products that work well for these sensitive fronts? Which tools are best to use? And are there any differences when cleaning clear versus matte glass on Metod fronts?

I look forward to helpful answers, preferably with explanations as to why certain methods work better. Thanks in advance!

Hello Abdubi,

For streak-free cleaning of Metod glass fronts, I generally recommend using a lint-free microfiber cloth. These cloths effectively pick up dirt particles and do not leave lint behind.

As a cleaning agent, lukewarm water or a mixture of water and a mild dish detergent is usually sufficient. It is important to use the detergent sparingly to avoid residues that can cause streaks.

Afterward, be sure to buff with a dry microfiber cloth to completely remove any moisture.

For clear glass, it is better to use a glass cleaner without alcohol or ammonia to prevent damage to the surface protection. Frosted glass is less sensitive since streak formation is generally less of an issue.

Summary:
- Use microfiber cloth
- Mild cleaning agent or water
- Use small amounts of cleaning agent
- Buff with a dry cloth

I can only agree with that! Especially for delicate glass fronts like Metod, it is important to avoid using aggressive cleaners. I would also recommend dusting the fronts with a dry cloth before cleaning to prevent sand or dust particles from scratching the surface.

In addition, I have had very good experiences using distilled water, especially if your tap water is very hard. Lime scale can also cause streaks.

It also helps to clean the fronts with circular motions and avoid applying too much pressure.

A highly recommended method that I use myself combines glass cleaning with microfiber cloths and a vinegar-water solution (1 part white vinegar, 3 parts water). This not only removes grease from the surface but also effectively eliminates lime scale deposits.

Vinegar neutralizes lime residue, which can otherwise cause streaks. It is important to dry the front thoroughly afterward with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to prevent any moisture remaining.

This method is especially effective for clear glass fronts and is a cost-effective alternative to specialized glass cleaners.

I would like to point out that caution should be exercised when using vinegar, as prolonged or frequent use could damage the protective coating on glass fronts.

It would be advisable to check the manufacturer’s instructions from Metod to ensure that vinegar or other acidic cleaners are not recommended.

Alternatively, isopropyl alcohol mixed with water (about 50:50) can be helpful, as alcohol evaporates quickly and leaves fewer residues, without severely affecting the surface.

This effect is indeed correct, but the possible long-term impact on the surface should not be overlooked.

So far, I have simply used lukewarm water and a good microfiber cloth and I'm very satisfied! 😍 The most important thing for me is the right technique:

- First, take the damp cloth and clean the surface
- Immediately after, use a different dry corner of the microfiber cloth to polish

This really removes all drops that could cause streaks.

Honestly, I found expensive special cleaners unnecessary!

If you keep it simple, it works great!
