Hello everyone,
I’m looking for tips and proven methods here in the forum to prevent scratches on Malm furniture from IKEA. I recently bought several pieces, mainly dressers and desks, and I’m already noticing some signs of wear in the form of small scratches on the surfaces. Since I care about both the appearance and maintaining the value, I’m wondering which strategies or protective measures have worked best.
For example, I’m interested in whether certain cleaning products, protective films, or specific placement in the room can help. Are there also precautions to take during use, such as using coasters or padding on drawer edges?
I look forward to your experiences and advice!

I know very well how uncertain you can feel about the materials, especially in the beginning. What helped me was placing small protective mats under my decorative items and making sure not to put any sharp or pointed objects down without a base. That way, the furniture felt much better protected.
