Hello everyone, I am planning to install my Ikea Pax sliding doors myself and have a few specific questions. I have already assembled the wardrobe frame, but the installation of the sliding doors is still unclear to me, especially regarding the correct alignment and fixing of the running rails. How do I install sliding doors on the Ikea Pax myself so that they move smoothly and without sticking? Are there any special tools, adjustment tips, or important points I should keep in mind to avoid mistakes? Thank you in advance for your help!

If the floor is uneven, using a small gasket or thin mounting felt can help stabilize the track and prevent warping. I agree with that, but it’s definitely important to check this before installation. Even a slight tolerance can significantly affect the smooth operation of the doors later on. This is especially crucial for sliding doors, where part of the weight rests on the rollers, making precise flatness essential.
Additionally, I would suggest inspecting the rollers for any damage before hanging the doors and regularly checking the height adjustment during setup – the Pax wheels come with adjustment screws for this purpose.
Some details for fastening and adjusting the sliding doors in the Pax system that are often overlooked:
- Precise work during frame installation: everything runs smoothly only if the installation width and angles are correct.
- Before installing the rollers, check the door frames for perfect vertical alignment.
- The upper rollers can be partially adjusted; it’s best to start by setting them in the middle, then fine-tune by adjusting the screws until the doors glide smoothly without touching the floor or catching.
- The order is important: first hang the upper tracks, then carefully hang the doors lengthwise, and finally adjust the lower guide.
- Readjusting the lower guide rails is often necessary later, especially with wooden subfloors or tiles.
Any rattling noises may indicate dirty tracks or damaged rollers. Regular maintenance and cleaning of the tracks usually helps.

Could you also advise how tightly the screws should be fastened to avoid damaging the rollers? Is it necessary to be careful during adjustment to prevent overloading the mechanism?
