Hello everyone, I recently received a new kitchen with matte IKEA Metod fronts and am now facing the challenge of cleaning them without damaging the matte finish or surface. I am especially interested in methods and products that are effective but do not leave scratches, shiny spots, or other unpleasant residues. Are there any special cleaning agents or home remedies that work particularly well?

Additionally, it would be helpful if you could share experiences with long-term care, as I want to avoid the fronts becoming stained or unattractive over time. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice!

What I would like to add: If there are stubborn stains that cannot be removed with soapy water, you can gently try using a soft eraser – very gently and only in small areas.

Under no circumstances should aggressive chemicals be applied! This could cause irreversible damage.

If you are uncertain, try it first in an inconspicuous spot. This way, you can avoid consequential damage.

Very good tip, thank you! You do need to be patient, but often this is enough and helps avoid resorting to harsh chemicals.

I believe the main thing is not to let cleaning become a struggle. It’s better to wipe down more often with just plain water than to use too much pressure or harsh cleaning agents.

The surfaces are not tanks but should be cared for like good friends – sometimes a simple “hello” (meaning a damp cloth) is enough.

Thank you for the detailed answers! To summarize, I have understood the following:

- Use mild cleaning agents with pH-neutral dish soap whenever possible
- Use soft microfiber cloths for cleaning and drying
- Avoid abrasive or harsh chemicals, and also try to avoid vinegar
- Wipe or dry immediately to prevent water spots
- Treat stains carefully and spot-clean with an eraser

I will try this approach and hope the surfaces can be maintained well. If anyone has additional tips for preventing dust or grease buildup on a weekly basis, I would appreciate it. Thanks again!
