Vinmi47Hello everyone, I have a more specific question for the community: How do you clean IKEA Metod kitchen cabinet fronts when they are heavily soiled? Specifically, I’m dealing with greasy residues that have built up over time around my cooking area and are not easily removed with regular dish soap. Since the fronts are often painted or laminated, I want to avoid damaging them. Are there any special cleaning products or home remedies that are effective but gentle on the material? I’m also interested in any tips on the cleaning process itself, such as recommended soaking times or gentle mechanical assistance. I look forward to your experiences and advice!

Are there any special cleaning agents or home remedies that are effective yet gentle on the material?I know exactly how frustrating it can be to deal with stubborn stains while wanting to avoid scratching the surface. For my Metod fronts, I’ve had good results using a mild all-purpose cleaner, which I always test first on an inconspicuous spot. I use a damp cloth and a bit of patience—never scrubbing, but allowing the cleaner to sit for a while. Sometimes adding a small amount of rubbing alcohol to the water helps, but it should be used cautiously. I consider this a good balance between cleaning effectiveness and protecting the surface.

I usually use warm water with a neutral dishwashing detergent. Interesting, however, I doubt that simple dishwashing detergent is sufficient for heavy grease buildup. In my experience, it is important to differentiate between the different surface types of Metod fronts (paint, foil, glass).
A universal recommendation is difficult without knowing the surface texture. Additionally, I wonder if a short soaking period could help before applying mechanical cleaning.
Does anyone have studies, care instructions from IKEA, or reliable practical advice that balances cleaning effectiveness and material protection?

For stubborn dirt, special kitchen degreasers can help, but I would always test on a small area first.
Also, avoid using scouring pads. Simply work with a soft cloth and some patience.
