Hello everyone, I have a rather specific question regarding the cleaning of my Ikea Pax wardrobe doors with glass fronts. Since these fronts are made of glass, I want to avoid streaks, scratches, or residue from cleaning products. I am especially interested in which cleaning methods and products have proven effective for removing stubborn fingerprints and dust while keeping the glass gently cleaned and permanently clear. Could you share practical tips on whether special glass cleaners are recommended or if simple household remedies work better? It would also be helpful to hear about your experiences cleaning the surrounding frames, which are usually made of plastic or wood. Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Cleaning Ikea Pax glass fronts requires a careful approach, since glass is durable but frequent or improper cleaning can cause micro-scratches and streaks that accumulate over time and reduce the appearance. Step by step, I recommend the following procedure: 1. Gently remove coarse dirt, dust, and debris with a dry microfiber cloth to avoid scratches from particles. 2. For actual cleaning, prepare a solution of distilled water and a small amount of a neutral, pH 7 cleaner or alternatively an isopropanol-based glass cleaner. Avoid acetone or ammonia strictly, as these can damage the surface coating. 3. Lightly apply the cleaner to the cloth, not directly onto the glass, and work in circular motions to dissolve residues. 4. To prevent streaks, polish the glass with a separate, dry, lint-free cloth, preferably in multiple passes. 5. For wooden frames, use an appropriate wood care product. For plastic frames, a mild cleaning agent without aggressive solvents is sufficient. Note: Avoid harsh sponges and all-purpose cleaners containing bleach, as the plastic may fade. I would be interested to know how often you plan to clean the fronts and whether you mainly deal with specific dirt such as grease or dust? Then I can tailor the instructions more precisely.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I clean about once every two weeks. Mostly there are fingerprints and some dust, and occasionally light grease marks since the cabinet is near the kitchen. I have consistently had trouble avoiding streaks with stubborn grease stains. So, a specific tip for dealing with this type of dirt would be very helpful.

Hello, I love cleaning my Ikea PAX glass fronts with a little glass cleaner and a high-quality microfiber cloth. Glass cleaner works especially well on greasy spots! It’s important not to spray too much and to dry thoroughly afterwards. This helps avoid streaks. If you clean regularly as you mentioned, the fronts will always stay nice and clear. Don’t worry, it works really well 🙂

A proven trick for greasy dirt is to first pre-clean with a microfiber cloth and lukewarm water plus a small drop of dish soap. Then briefly wipe again with clear water and immediately polish with a second, dry microfiber cloth. This way you can effectively remove water and grease films without damaging the glass or leaving streaks. Avoid strongly alkaline or acidic cleaners, as they may dissolve grease but can damage the frames.

Exactly, that's how I do it too. Using too much cleaner makes the job unnecessarily complicated because the residues are hard to remove.
