Hello everyone, I recently assembled an Ikea Hemnes wardrobe and noticed that the doors don’t close completely flush and sometimes hang slightly crooked. My question is: How can I easily and accurately adjust Ikea Hemnes doors without damaging the door or having to take the wardrobe apart? I understand the basic function of the door hinges but am unsure how far and in which direction to turn them so that later corrections work well and the door stays straight permanently. Are there any practical tips or tricks for a simple and efficient adjustment, possibly with the help of tools? Thanks in advance for your support!

Tip: To ensure the door closes perfectly flush, always adjust the depth setting first, then correct horizontally, and finally align vertically. Thank you very much for the detailed instructions! I have one more question: I have a door that already catches or sticks slightly when closing. Does this mean I should start with the depth adjustment first to prevent the door from rubbing on the front of the frame? Or is there a different approach to avoid the door jamming when closing?

Honestly, these Ikea hinges are clever in design, but constantly readjusting them gets annoying after a while. Instead of turning the screws over and over, shouldn’t you also check whether the cabinet itself is level and even? If the floor is uneven, no amount of perfect door adjustment will help.
You could almost argue that the problem isn’t with the door but with the base it’s standing on. So before getting lost in tweaking screws, first make sure the cabinet isn’t tilted.
But hey, that’s just my provocative opinion! Not everyone will like it, but I enjoy going against the mainstream sometimes.
