KENJIHello everyone,
I am planning to redesign my kitchen using IKEA Metod cabinets, but I want to make the storage as flexible as possible. My question is: How can I use IKEA Metod cabinets effectively and flexibly to create more storage space without wasting too much room?
I am especially interested in solutions that cover different usage requirements, such as adjustable compartment layouts, accommodation for kitchen utensils of various sizes, and whether modular elements combine well with each other.
I look forward to your ideas and experiences!

I completely understand your desire for flexibility and know the feeling when nothing quite fits right in the kitchen. I have found that Metod cabinets with different modular heights work well, so I can store tall pots and small items equally well.
I’ve also learned that sometimes it helps to focus on the essentials and avoid overloading. This keeps use simple and storage truly accessible.

Oh, this is a great topic!! IKEA Metod is really highly customizable, and the pull-out drawers create a lot of space. I especially love the tall pull-outs for pantry items; they are super flexible thanks to the various boxes and racks.
My tip: also try the VARIERA organizing elements from IKEA, which turn any drawer into an organization dream! If you like, I can gladly tell you more about the combination options!

I think it’s overrated to constantly try to reinvent the wheel, especially with IKEA Metod. Sure, there are flexible systems, but in the end, they are just modular units.
If you really want more storage space, you need to invest more money or rely on specialized providers. Flexibility is nice, but you typically gain more storage by using clever space optimization elsewhere.
Just a thought to consider.

Could you perhaps explain that in a bit more detail? Do you mean, for example, using niches, ceiling height, or other furniture outside the kitchen?
Because IKEA Metod has the advantage that you can already optimize space utilization through different sizes, such as wider or taller cabinets.
