Sektionschef5 Oct 2014 22:03Hello
Our Metod kitchen will have a 60cm (24 inches) wide tall cabinet, 200cm (79 inches) high, with an additional 40cm (16 inches) top section that we want to use as a pantry.
For the tall cabinet, we want an 80cm (31 inches) wide door at the bottom, a 120cm (47 inches) wide door above that, and a 40cm (16 inches) wide door for the top section, so the fronts match the adjacent tall cabinet with the refrigerator.
My question concerns the drawers we want to install inside:
At what heights can I install the drawers inside the cabinet?
In general, my wife wants a tall drawer at the very bottom (Maximera tall drawer) to store beverage bottles. Up to about eye level, she wants medium-height drawers, and above those, Utrusta wire baskets, so she can see inside from below.
I have measured various beverage bottles; if I allow 36cm (14 inches) height, all kinds of bottles should fit. In the medium-height drawers, my wife mainly wants to store her bulk storage boxes, which are 20cm (8 inches) high.
According to the assembly instructions, the 2m (79 inches) cabinet body has 40 holes for drawer installation, but it is unclear to me if I can also install a drawer where there is a door hinge nearby, and what minimum distance between the drawer and the door hinge I must maintain.
I need this information so I can calculate how many medium-height drawers and wire basket drawers I need to order for the cabinet.
Best regards

IKEA-Experte6 Oct 2014 17:28Hello,
I can only provide the following measurements:
Hole spacing 5 cm (2 inches)
Distance lower shelf - first hole = min. distance hole bottom of the cabinet rail = 5 cm (2 inches) - 1.8 cm (0.7 inches) = 3.2 cm (1.3 inches)
Width of 153° hinge: 26 mm (1 inch)

Sektionschef7 Oct 2014 07:37Thank you, Ikea expert,
What about the 26mm (1 inch) width of the hinge: I assume this means the drawer front itself cannot be at the same height as the hinge, correct?
So the drawers can be installed at any height in 5cm (2 inch) increments, as long as they don’t interfere with the height of the hinges, right?
One question remains: at what height are the hinges positioned for the different doors/fronts?
Best regards,

IKEA-Experte7 Oct 2014 14:21Take a look at installation manuals for different cooling appliances. You should be able to find some information about the positions there.
Alternatively, you could simply choose to have one less drawer and buy an additional one later if needed.
