Hello,

in the hope of possibly helping someone like me who wants to build a raised dishwasher:

The question of how to set up an IKEA kitchen with a built-in dishwasher at counter height without leaving an unsightly gap underneath to open the door has been bothering me. So last week I walked into an IKEA store and took the kitchen appliances brochure with me. And lo and behold: the top model Enastående states: "Integrated sliding hinges; allow installation with plinths (kickboards / baseboards) of all heights."

That made me wonder if this might be the solution to my problem. As I found out, there are also dishwashers with such hinges from other manufacturers, e.g., Siemens, Neff... this type of hinge is called "vario hinge."
A quote from a site called bobselektro: "The Neff VARIO HINGE offers a perfect solution for minimal gaps between cabinet fronts. In appliances with this Vario hinge, the fully integrated cabinet front moves slightly upwards when opening the appliance. This means that for a dishwasher installed at counter height, larger gaps in the cabinet fronts are no longer necessary."

With the DIY instructions from an IKEA expert and this information, I am now quite confident that I can achieve a visually neat solution as well. When the time comes next year, I will report back.
