Hello everyone, I recently ordered a Billy shelf from IKEA, but I’ve run into some trouble during assembly because the instructions are either missing or so unclear that I’m stuck. Does anyone know where I can find a better, more understandable manual? I’m specifically looking for a step-by-step guide, as I’m having trouble identifying some parts and the original instructions, if available at all, are very minimal. I would also appreciate any tips on assembly or common mistakes to avoid so I can finish this quickly. Thanks in advance!

Take a look at the IKEA website, where you can download the exploded diagrams and the PDF instructions.

If anything is unclear, just ask. Important: For BILLY, make sure to sort the screws exactly by type, otherwise you might run into problems.

After reading your posts, I would like to add that for IKEA models like the BILLY shelf, it can sometimes be helpful to refer to the produced spare parts catalogs.

Some users have had good experiences by not attaching the back panel completely at first, but only after inserting the shelves. This increases flexibility and sometimes makes adjusting the parts easier.

Could you please briefly describe which parts exactly these are? Screws, dowels, or elements like back panel strips? Then I could assist you more precisely with the assembly.

By the way, there are also forums with 3D renderings that can significantly help in understanding construction steps when the manual is not sufficient.
