Inspired by @Alessandro, I’m starting my own house building thread here. For several months now, I have been an active reader, witnessing many interesting, exciting, and sometimes difficult experiences in this forum. I’ve learned a lot and shared in many joys, anxieties, and challenges.
We bought our plot at the end of 2016, planned extensively, and then waited even longer for the building permit / planning permission – unfortunately for over a year. By now, we have been working on the interior finishing for several weeks, and due to COVID-19, this will probably take even longer.
Here are some photos of the model and the original floor plans:

@Bauherr am L We included the door in the carpenter package, so I’m not sure about the details. In the rooms with higher ceilings, like the entrance area, we have a barn door separating it from the kids’ cloakroom, but most of the other doors are ceiling height. We also have a few sliding doors, which are hardly visible when open.
@Xingwei421 Thank you... The kids chose the colors themselves, the walls are painted with magnetic paint, and the floors are liquid cork; basically, it was poured in.Isn’t that great? Liquid cork…! There really is everything nowadays; in my mind, “liquid” and “cork” wouldn’t usually go together, since I tend to associate cork with Malbec rather than flooring. It looks stylish and is something different once again; that’s exactly how it should be!pagoni2020 schrieb:

It looks stylish and is something different once again; that’s how it should be! I was already familiar with cork as a flooring material—friends of ours had cork installed in their kids’ rooms about 10 years ago, but it was laid as tiles and you could see the cork pattern. Liquid cork seems to be the new must-have flooring for hospitals, kindergartens, and nursing homes here because it feels nice to the touch, provides impact sound insulation, and is durable. I’ll report back if I ever move in...
My daughter does gymnastics; she already tried back handsprings and backflips on it in the basement and thinks the floor is great.

I would forbid her from doing that nonsense immediately—don’t want her scratching it. Tsk... kids have no clue about building. Because of the children, we also don’t have hardwood floors, glass railings, or door keys. Instead, we have black door latches and pushbuttons, a dedicated bike and storage room, and a children's cloakroom... You do whatever it takes for them.

Instead, we have black door catches and push buttons, a separate bike and storage room, and a children's cloakroom... What won’t you do for them. As parents, that really takes away the chance to give the kids a good telling-off every now and then... well... we can’t even lose the house key or be blamed when I’ve messed something up myself. Quite an awkward approach. Let’s hope at least some of that comes back to us eventually—

Liquid corkThanks for your reply! I always thought that woven cork flooring looks rough with visible “holes” and a wood-like color. Did you apply any paint or coating? Your floor looks so smooth and shiny. Could you please tell me where I could find something like this? Thanks in advance!Similar topics
