I want to install a special type of flooring in my living room. Has anyone here ever tried cork? I find it very interesting but I'm not sure about the potential disadvantages of this kind of flooring. It needs to be more than just stylish. Maybe you could give me some tips on choosing the right floor covering. It can also be something completely different.
Thanks in advance! 🙂

mantafan-130 Jul 2008 09:43Hello,
For example, I installed Sollnhofer panels in my living room. They look very stylish and elegant. The floor is easy to maintain and lasts forever. I believe cork flooring is not as easy to care for, and I’m not sure if it shows marks when walked on with shoes.

jamesbond-130 Jul 2008 11:41Hi everyone,
Can someone explain to me what exactly a cork floor is? I only know about cork walls. Is it maybe the same, just for the floor? I'm puzzled; I didn’t realize there was something like that for flooring too.

Hello jamesbond, hello mantafan!
Cork flooring is apparently available as cork parquet and prefinished cork parquet. It is said to be very low maintenance. However, I’m not sure how durable this type of flooring is or if the upkeep is really that easy. I was hoping to find someone here in the forum who might already be using this flooring. I definitely find it very attractive, but I will also take a look at the Sollnhofer panels mentioned by “mantafan.” Let’s see, maybe they will suit me. Thanks, mantafan!
Best regards, gatita 🙂

listchecker-12 Aug 2008 03:28Hi everyone!
There are cork tiles, cork parquet, and also prefinished cork flooring. The surface can be oiled, waxed, or sealed, just like with other wood flooring. Cork coverings are easy to clean, but you should avoid using alkaline cleaning products.

Hello,
I would like to point out that cork floors feel very warm underfoot. Some types are highly recommended for use with underfloor heating systems. However, there is one important thing to watch out for when buying a cork floor: formaldehyde is often used in the manufacturing process. 😱 Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the product you intend to purchase does not contain it!
