Hello dear IKEA fans!

I am currently assembling my new Pax Tonnes wardrobe (2m wide, 2.36m high, 58cm deep (2m wide, 7ft 9in high, 23in deep)). The carcasses and the strips for the door hinges were no problem. The sliding doors are a completely different matter: when I had inserted the panels and wanted to attach the second-to-last metal strip, which will be at the very bottom, it didn’t fit properly. It sticks out about 5mm (0.2 inches). This caused me to be unable to insert the final side metal strip because it’s misaligned. With the first sliding door with the floral pattern, I also couldn’t fully insert the bottom strip, but the side strip went in, and everything came together properly, so that door is finished. Now I’m at the white door and can’t move forward...
Please help me

Yours, Mareike_3758

Taking it apart and putting it back together again...

Or has it worked already...?

Hello Maverick!

Thanks for your reply. In the meantime, I have installed the interior fittings of the cabinet, and it looks great! Taking it apart and reassembling it would have been my next step anyway (I had to do this with the first door as well, but a metal part still sticks out a few millimeters (about 1/8 inch). I sincerely hope this won’t cause the door to rub later on).
I’ll get to work now.

Have a great day!
Mareike

So, I did what you said. I managed to fit all the outer metal strips in with more or less force, but the lower one on the right sticks out about 5mm (0.2 inches) again, which means I can’t get the screws in from the back because the drill holes don’t line up.

How sensitive is the glass to vibrations? I tried carefully using a hammer with a cloth in between to fit the strip, but it didn’t help, and I was constantly afraid of breaking the glass.

Please give me tips and share your experiences!
Thank you, Mareike_3758

There is only one solution: disassemble the door, go to IKEA, and exchange it. It seems to be a product defect.

So??? Problem with the door, or installation error???
