Hello everyone, I am currently planning to get an IKEA Platsa system, but I have a specific question: Are there any variants or individual modules within the PLATSA range that can be assembled entirely without using screws? Specifically, I mean whether some of these IKEA furniture pieces are designed to be put together solely using plug-in systems, clips, or similar fasteners, so that no screw fastenings are required. I would like to know if such models exist, and if so, which ones. If anyone has experience with assembling or the stability of such PLATSA modules without screws, I would be very grateful for any advice or tips. Thank you in advance!

As far as I know, there are no PLATSA models that can be assembled entirely without screws. Screws are necessary for the stability of most modules. Some parts have snap-fit connections, but usually it is not possible to assemble them completely without screws.

I can confirm that. PLATSA is designed so that the main structure is assembled with screws to ensure the necessary stability.

- The corner joints and the primary cabinet components require screws.
- While there are clips or connectors for shelves and back panels that can be attached without tools, the overall structure relies on screws.

If you want to make assembly easier, use the included Allen key and organize the parts beforehand. Screw-free assembly is not possible with PLATSA because they are designed differently from, for example, shelving units with clip systems.

In summary: Screwing is essential for volume and stability in PLATSA.

From my experience with PLATSA, there are actually no completely screw-free pieces in this range. However, the individual modules are often designed to be modular, so some elements—such as shelves or partial back panels—are attached using clips. These are intended for easy assembly and adjustment but are only supplementary to the load-bearing structure.

The key point is that screws in PLATSA are responsible not only for holding the furniture together but also for safety, especially if the piece is tall or will carry weight.

If screws are an issue for you (for example, due to assembly complexity or the need for tools), I recommend looking at the assembly instructions for various PLATSA modules online. There, you can clearly see which steps require screws and which parts are simply slotted together.

As an alternative, you can look for models from other manufacturers that explicitly use snap-in systems, but this is not the case with IKEA’s PLATSA.
