ᐅ Which replacement parts are most commonly needed for IKEA PLATSA?

judasnoHello everyone, I have assembled several IKEA Platsa units at home by now and have noticed that some spare parts tend to be needed more frequently over time. My question is: based on your experience, which spare parts are most commonly required for IKEA Platsa, especially concerning wear and tear, damaged components, or missing small parts after assembly? I am interested not only in standard hardware like screws and wall plugs (anchors) but also in specific fittings or connectors that typically need replacement. It would be great if you could also indicate whether there are differences between individual Platsa modules or if your experiences apply generally. Thanks in advance!

Usually, with PLATSA, the quick connectors (concealed screw connections in the wood) and the back panels—more precisely their fastening elements—are the most susceptible to wear. This is because with repeated disassembly and reassembly during moves or renovations, the threaded inserts in the wood sometimes tear out and then need to be replaced.
The door hinges are also frequently affected, especially the concealed metal hinges, because improper installation or frequent use can cause the adjustment screws to loosen. In these cases, replacement screw and hinge sets are often helpful.
I would be interested to know whether you use the furniture mostly as a stationary unit or if you regularly dismantle and reassemble it? This has a significant impact on the wear of the connecting elements.

I use the furniture mostly in a fixed setup; however, from time to time we make small adjustments or additions that involve removing or adding individual parts. Complete disassembly is quite rare, though. So, the stresses on the furniture are mainly from normal use rather than frequent transportation.
The PLATSA series uses many specialized connectors that are not always standardized. Based on my research and common user reports, the following replacement parts are more likely to be needed:
- Connector fittings (hidden, used to hold the modules together)
- Plastic shelf supports
- Screws for door hinges and connectors
- Back panel nails, especially when back panels are retrofitted or replaced
These parts are the most vulnerable because they experience the most mechanical stress. Older versions of the PLATSA series can sometimes be less durable in terms of fittings, which may lead to breakage.

Hello, I can add to this from my own experience. In our case, the plastic shelf supports were actually the most frequently broken parts, especially when placing heavy loads on the shelves or when frequently rearranging furniture. Additionally, we needed to replace the hinges several times because the doors eventually did not close properly or became misaligned from regular use.
For anyone new to the PLATSA system: it’s worthwhile to order a small spare set with extra screws, wall plugs (anchors), and shelf brackets right away. That way, you can quickly handle minor repairs.
