TaonbarHello everyone, I am planning to get a new wardrobe and have my eye on the Ikea Pax system. Since I am not very skilled with DIY and don’t want to spend too much time on assembly, I am especially interested in whether there are Ikea Pax wardrobes that come pre-assembled or at least partially pre-assembled. So far, I have only found information saying that you have to assemble everything yourself, but maybe someone here has experience with delivery services, special models, or accessories that make the assembly much easier. I look forward to any helpful advice and tips!
For clarification: Ikea delivers the Pax wardrobes in flat-pack form, which you then assemble according to the included instructions. There is no official Ikea service that delivers pre-assembled Pax wardrobes. However, some specialized furniture service providers offer package solutions where at least part of the assembly is handled – but this is not a standard Ikea offering.
An interesting question is why Ikea does not offer pre-assembled Pax wardrobes. The answer probably lies in the logistics and Ikea's DIY concept – assembling the furniture yourself keeps costs low and boosts sales success. If Ikea were to sell the wardrobes pre-assembled and therefore more expensive, their business model would fundamentally change. So, it is unlikely that this will happen.
For better orientation, here is a brief guide or overview of the usual process for Ikea Pax:
- The wardrobe components such as carcasses, shelves, and doors are delivered separately.
- Assembly is usually done in several steps: first, assembling the carcasses, then installing the interior fittings, and finally mounting the doors.
- However, Ikea offers an additional service called "assembly service," which can be added for a fee. This is not included as standard in the package price.
If you have limited time or DIY skills, I definitely recommend the assembly service, but fully pre-assembled delivery is not available.

For anyone who doesn’t want to do the assembly themselves, the paid installation service is the right choice.
Of course, it’s great when a finished wardrobe is simply placed in the room, but in that case, you might want to look for a different provider who offers that as a service.
