Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the challenge of transporting several Ikea Platsa furniture units and was wondering if anyone has tips on how to prepare them most effectively and securely for transport, as well as how to handle the transport itself.
Specifically, I am interested in whether it is better to disassemble the modules completely or if some parts can be left partially assembled. It would also be helpful to know the best way to secure the pieces to prevent any damageâespecially since the back panels and doors seem quite fragile.
Are there any recommendations regarding the vehicle size or the types of packing materials to use? I look forward to your experiences and tips that can make this process easier!

Wow, great tips here! I transported my Platsa modules last year and had exactly the same concerns. One tip that really helped me:
- Use moving blankets and ratchet straps together!
- Completely disassemble the back panels; they are very tight and can break easily.
- And stay relaxedâeven if it seems like a lot at first, youâll have much less stress during transportation!
Good luck, you can do it!

Here is a brief guide for transporting Ikea Platsa furniture, based on previous posts and my experience:
1. Preparation:
- Gather tools: screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead), possibly Allen keys
- Labeling materials (tags, markers) and small bags for screws
- Protective materials: blankets, tie-down straps, sturdy boxes or foam
2. Disassembly:
- Remove doors first to prevent damage.
- Carefully take off back panels; they should be stored flat.
- Unscrew side panels and shelves according to markings.
3. Packing and loading:
- Place back panels between sturdy boxes or wrap them in blankets for protection.
- Stack heavy parts at the bottom, lighter ones on top.
- Use tie-down straps to prevent shifting.
4. Vehicle choice and loading requirements:
- Vehicles with a loading length of at least 1.3 m (4.3 ft) are ideal.
5. After transport:
- Keep screws well sorted and have the assembly instructions ready.
These steps help ensure Platsa modules are transported without damage and save time during assembly. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
