Hello everyone, I have a specific issue with my IKEA Platsa drawers that I recently assembled. The drawers basically work, but they make unpleasant noises when opening and closing – ranging from squeaking to creaking sounds. I’m interested in understanding what might be causing these noises and how to best eliminate them. Are there particular lubricants recommended for this, or could adjustments to the drawer mechanisms be necessary? Perhaps the runners are not optimally installed or require fine-tuning? I would appreciate detailed advice on how to make the PLATSA drawers run as quietly and smoothly as possible. Thank you in advance!
In addition to lubricating, I would recommend removing the drawers completely and checking the runners for any irregularities. Small debris often accumulates in the guide rails, which can affect the movement. If the drawers are warped or damaged, this can also cause noise. A thorough inspection before lubricating helps to identify the cause more accurately.

It is mainly a quiet but annoying squeaking noise when opening and closing slowly. This is typical for friction-based small noises caused by speed-dependent movements. Another point: some users report that the wood in the cabinet slightly shifts or the handling feels a bit rougher when the drawers are not properly adjusted. Please check the alignment of the drawer slides on the back; there are small screws for fine adjustment. Minor misalignments increase mechanical friction, which leads to the described squeaking sounds. Precise adjustment of the sliding rails can often completely resolve the issue.
Thanks for the tips so far. I took another careful look last night: The runners are clean, no visible debris, and all screws are tight. I will try silicone spray around midday and check the adjustment at the back. If that doesn’t help, I will take a closer look at the plastic sliders. Thanks for all the explanations and suggestions so far!
