ᐅ Which replacement parts for IKEA Hemnes are the easiest to obtain?

neobuHello everyone, I have a more specific question about IKEA furniture, specifically the Hemnes model. Recently, one of the drawer slides broke, and I want to replace the part without having to discard or repurchase the entire piece of furniture.
I am interested in knowing which spare parts for the Hemnes series are generally the easiest and most reliable to obtain. I often read that certain small components can be hard to find or are only available through IKEA customer service, which can sometimes be time-consuming and expensive.
Can anyone share from experience whether, for example, hinges, handles, screws, or drawer slides are easier to get? Or are there generic replacement parts that fit well and are more readily available at hardware stores or online?
I am mainly looking for practical advice: where and how to order parts that fit well, are affordable, and don’t require too much extra effort.
I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences, especially any tips related to Hemnes, as I feel the series is quite common and might have practical solutions.

I am therefore interested in which spare parts for the Hemnes series are generally the easiest and most reliable to obtain. An interesting question. From my point of view, it makes sense to first distinguish between IKEA’s own parts and universal replacement parts.
- What I have noticed: Handles are usually not a problem because they often come in standardized sizes and are easy to replace, even with aftermarket products from hardware stores.
- Screws or mounting materials are often IKEA-specific but can frequently be replaced by standard sizes, for example, DIN screws.
- Drawer slides could be problematic. Most IKEA drawer systems use special runners that are difficult to replicate without the original parts.
So, the “easiest” depends heavily on the component. Availability directly from IKEA is also important, as not all spare parts remain permanently in their range.
Therefore, I would add to your question: Is there anyone here who has ordered spare parts specifically through IKEA (online or in-store), and how long were the delivery times? Also important: Are parts sold individually or only as sets?
Because “easy to get” also means fast and reliable with no unnecessary delivery delays.
The handles on Hemnes furniture are usually standard. You can find replacements fairly quickly at hardware stores or online.
Drawer slides are often exclusive to IKEA, so it's best to order replacement parts directly from them.
Hinges are also available as replacement parts from IKEA, usually through their service or online section.
As for screws: they are standard metric sizes and can be found at any hardware store.
This way, you can make repairs easily even without original parts.

From my own experience: the handles and screws are the easiest to get, as already mentioned here.
What has always made me a bit uncertain are the drawer slides. I replaced one unit, and it was somewhat difficult because I couldn’t immediately find the original part.
However, IKEA customer service is usually quite helpful if you provide the model number of your Hemnes piece. So, simply asking customer service often helps a lot.
If you don’t feel confident repairing it yourself right away, it’s often worth studying the furniture along with the replacement parts, maybe even using the assembly instructions available online. If any questions come up, I’m happy to help here.

But IKEA customer service is usually quite helpful if you provide the model number of your Hemnes.I can confirm that as well. I once had a broken hinge and was able to order a replacement directly from customer service without any issues. It might take about 1 week to arrive, but that way you’re on the safe side.
- Handles can be replaced almost anywhere and other types usually fit as well.
- Drawer slides are IKEA-specific, so it’s best to use original parts.
If you're in a hurry, I’d recommend ordering directly from IKEA. Patience is key here.
