Hello everyone, I am currently working on repairs for Ikea furniture, specifically the Hemnes series. I am interested in which repairs are particularly easy to carry out. For example, I am thinking of replacing or fixing drawer runners, tightening screws, or repairing scratches on the surfaces. Perhaps someone has experience with certain parts of this series where a repair is straightforward and does not require special tools? I look forward to your insights and tips on which repairs for Hemnes furniture are especially easy to do and where you can potentially help yourself.

Another tip: If doors squeak or installed hinges come loose, readjusting and tightening the screws on the hinges is particularly easy and effective with Hemnes. The hinges are standardized and can often even be rotated to better align the door positions.

For scratches, I’ve had good experiences using small touch-up paint pens or wood care products to significantly improve the appearance.

That’s very helpful, thank you! Does anyone here have specific experience with common touch-up paint pen brands for HEMNES, especially regarding the type of wood and color tone? That would be great, as I’m unsure how to precisely match the color of HEMNES wood.

I can recommend the brand "Tesa Repair" for wood repairs; they offer various shades that match the Nordic solid wood used by Ikea for HEMNES. When applying, I suggest several thin layers with light sanding in between for a better finish.

Replacement parts are best ordered directly from Ikea; otherwise, for minor damage, the only option is to repair with wood filler and touch-up paint.

Thank you all for the constructive feedback and shared experiences. For me, tightening the screws and replacing the running rails will be the first areas to try, along with surface care for minor scratches. I will gladly share the results or any further questions.
