Hello everyone, I have a question for those who have experience with Ikea Hemnes furniture or own some themselves: Which spare parts are particularly important to keep the furniture in good condition over the long term? I am especially interested in the parts that tend to wear out most frequently or typically cause issues, so that it makes sense to replace them proactively or keep them in stock. Maybe you could also share which spare parts are generally easy to obtain and which ones are more difficult to source. Thank you in advance for your knowledgeable answers!

A replacement is definitely worthwhile here, as the original spare parts are precisely matched to the furniture.
That’s exactly the point: original parts fit best, but obtaining them can be cumbersome. I recommend contacting Ikea directly or using official spare parts services to request the part numbers, so you can order exactly what you need. When replacing hinges or drawer runners, be sure not to overtighten the screws, as this can easily damage the wood. Hemnes often uses poplar wood, which is softer than beech or oak and therefore more delicate. Which parts do you currently have, and which furniture pieces exactly?

The piece of furniture is a Hemnes TV bench with two drawers and two doors. The drawers do not slide very smoothly, but the doors still close well. The screws seem to be tight, but I have not ordered any exact replacement parts yet. Therefore, your recommendation to obtain parts directly from Ikea is very helpful. The information about the type of wood also explains some of my observations. I will clean the drawer runners and check for visible damage. If necessary, I will order the plastic glides specifically.

For Hemnes furniture, it is also important to mention the handles as spare parts. Especially with frequently used furniture, handles can break or come loose. The material is sturdy, but after several years of use, signs of wear may become visible.

I had some issues with the drawer slides on my Hemnes dresser—they had become brittle over time. I ordered replacement parts from Ikea, and installing them was straightforward. Important: make sure to remove all the old parts completely; otherwise, the drawer will stick.

Great topic! I also believe you can never have enough spare parts in stock! Especially hinges and sliding tracks are essential—it's important to think about them early to avoid annoying problems. With fresh parts, everything runs much smoother, and you can definitely notice the difference!

Also, keep in mind that the screws may loosen over time due to the type of wood used in Hemnes. It is advisable to regularly tighten them and have replacement screws ready in case any are lost or damaged.
