Hello everyone, I have been experiencing issues with my Ikea Platsa drawers for some time. They stick when pulling out or pushing in, which makes opening them noticeably difficult. The drawers run on plastic rollers and tracks, which appear undamaged at first glance but might not be properly adjusted. Are there any proven methods to fix this sticking problem? I am especially interested in specific steps to check and adjust the drawer slides, possible cleaning tips, or advice regarding replacement parts. I look forward to detailed suggestions that go beyond the surface and may include technical explanations. Thanks in advance!

Hello sauaxel, thank you for the detailed question! Jamming in Platsa drawers is usually a mechanical issue that can be easily fixed with a systematic approach. First, I recommend fully removing the drawer and checking for dust, small stones, or metal debris in the rollers or tracks. These should be carefully removed. Also, check if the plastic rollers are unevenly worn or broken. Often, gently realigning the drawer on the tracks helps, as imbalances can cause jamming. If the tracks are bent, they should be carefully straightened or replaced if severely damaged. Additionally, I suggest lightly lubricating the sliding tracks, but only with a lubricant suitable for plastic—never use oily substances, as they attract dirt. If you want more details about the repair process, just ask!

Additional information: Platsa drawers use rollers that run within plastic tracks, which are usually maintenance-free. Jamming can occur due to:
- Dirt or debris in the tracks
- Deformed rollers
- Incorrect installation of the drawer (e.g., inserted too high or at an angle)

Recommendations:
- Clean the tracks and rollers thoroughly with a dry, lint-free cloth
- Check all drawer fastenings to ensure they are secure
- Inspect the rollers for cracks or breaks, replace if necessary
- Insert the drawer carefully, ensuring it is aligned straight and evenly within the tracks

Avoid using silicone- or phosphate-based lubricants; these often cause long-term contamination of the plastic components.

Great question, sauaxel! I had the same problem and managed to fix it with a few simple steps! 🙂 The important thing is not to use too much force if the drawer gets stuck. A little patience goes a long way.

I pulled the drawer out completely, paying attention to how it moves along the tracks. Then I carefully cleaned the rollers with a fine brush and tapped the tracks to remove any dirt. After that, I reinserted the drawer very carefully, making sure the rollers run smoothly and straight on the tracks. Sometimes it takes a bit of back and forth until everything fits perfectly.

Give it a try and keep at it – it will work! 🎉

Hello everyone, I’m sharing a simple step-by-step guide that has proven effective in practice for systematically repairing sticking Ikea Platsa drawers:

- 1. Fully pull out the drawer and relieve any load
- 2. Visually inspect all drawer slides for dirt, cracks, or breakage
- 3. Clean with a dry cloth or brush
- 4. Check whether the guide rollers are firmly seated and not bent
- 5. Replace rollers if necessary; Ikea offers suitable replacement parts
- 6. Reinstall the drawer horizontally with light pressure and check for smooth movement
- 7. Check that the drawer’s side panels do not rub against the sides of the opening

A common mistake is inserting the drawer at an angle, which causes increased friction and sticking. If the drawer slides are bent or damaged, replacement is usually the only solution.

I can fully confirm this. This effect is especially noticeable with heavy or fully loaded drawers. That’s why after cleaning and adjusting, it’s important to perform a load test to ensure the drawer still slides smoothly under weight. If it still sticks, gently rounding off the rollers with fine sandpaper (e.g., grit 600) can often help, in case sharp edges have developed there.
