Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to better organize my IKEA Platsa drawers and wonder if there are any specific accessories or inserts designed for these drawers. I’m not just looking for general drawer organizers, but custom solutions that are precisely tailored to the dimensions of the Platsa drawers.

Does anyone here have experience or tips on where to find such accessories, or if IKEA itself offers matching organizers?

I would appreciate detailed information, including measurements or materials, if you know of alternative solutions that fit well. Thanks in advance!

Hey Mausau, great question! 😊 I really like it when you can make the most of your PLATSA drawers since they offer a lot of space!

I use IKEA’s own PLATSA inserts myself. They’re not always perfect, but you can do quite a bit with them. For example, the small dividers work really well for organizing cutlery or small items. 💪

If IKEA doesn’t have the right solution, you can also check household goods stores or DIY options. Some people cut plastic sheets to fit or use plastic boxes as inserts.

Important: always pay attention to the depth and width of the drawer, because otherwise it can get tight!

I like labar43’s approach, exactly! It can really be frustrating sometimes when the drawers are large, but you can’t find suitable organizers for them.

What I personally believe is that many IKEA products are designed to be modular, and sometimes standard parts still work well if you get a bit creative.

Mausau, do you already have the exact measurements of your PLATSA drawers? If so, maybe we could think together about which inserts would be useful. Sometimes it’s also a good idea to take the internal dimensions and then look online for flexible inserts or cutting boards.

IKEA does not offer specific interior fittings for PLATSA.

However, you can use standard drawer inserts from other series if the dimensions fit. Flexible dividers or adjustable organizers are usually a better option.

Interesting discussion here!

To approach this technically: PLATSA drawers have the following standard dimensions (depending on the model and size, exact variations can be found on the IKEA websites or in the manual):

- Width: approx. 60 cm (24 inches)
- Depth: approx. 50 cm (20 inches)
- Height: 20 to 40 cm (8 to 16 inches) depending on drawer type

IKEA mainly offers additional elements such as dividers made of wood or plastic. There are also small boxes you can put inside, but these are not specifically designed for PLATSA—they are made for Kallax or Metod systems, though they can sometimes fit.

My recommendation: Measure the interior dimensions of your drawer precisely, then choose flexible or custom-made solutions.

Also, be aware that with some PLATSA drawers, due to the rail systems, you should not build too high inside, or else the drawer may jam when closing.

Because of the material (melamine-coated particle board), additional DIY modifications are also fairly easy to do if you are familiar with plywood or plastic.

Interesting, Gafiel!

However, I would like to raise the following question: Does it really make sense to rely on ‘customized’ additional parts from IKEA when these are not officially offered?

In my experience, the market for drawer inserts is extremely diverse, and since IKEA does not explicitly provide such solutions for PLATSA, it is better to consider external options.

This also means that you really need to know your exact measurements to avoid buying the wrong products.

I would be skeptical of advertising claims suggesting that perfect IKEA solutions exist. Often, it is more about improvisation.
