Hello everyone, I have been experiencing issues with my Ikea Platsa drawers for some time. They stick when pulling out or pushing in, which makes opening them noticeably difficult. The drawers run on plastic rollers and tracks, which appear undamaged at first glance but might not be properly adjusted. Are there any proven methods to fix this sticking problem? I am especially interested in specific steps to check and adjust the drawer slides, possible cleaning tips, or advice regarding replacement parts. I look forward to detailed suggestions that go beyond the surface and may include technical explanations. Thanks in advance!

If it still sticks, gently rounding off the rollers with fine sandpaper (e.g., grit 600) can often help, especially if sharp edges have developed.

This should be done very carefully, however, as removing too much material can worsen the fit and cause wobbling. In general, replacing the rollers after several years of use is often the better solution, since plastic tends to become brittle over time.

Hey sauaxel, have you ever tried treating the drawer slides with graphite powder? I did this for a friend, and suddenly the drawers ran much smoother! Graphite is dry, doesn’t attract dirt, and reduces friction. Give it a try, it can’t hurt! 🙂

Pull out the drawer, check the rollers, and clean the slides. If necessary, buy new rollers and install them. Then, reinsert the drawer straight. This is usually sufficient.

That’s a very good tip! However, I would add that all residues from other lubricants should be thoroughly removed before applying graphite, as it will lose its effectiveness otherwise. Also, be careful not to apply the powder too generously, as it can spread to other areas and attract dust.

Use graphite powder or a dry PTFE spray for the tracks. Do not use oily lubricants. Always clean first!

Drawer slides from the Platsa system wear out over time. Order new rollers, replace them, and everything will work perfectly again.
