sefraHello everyone,
I am considering buying a new shelving system from IKEA, and the Platsa system caught my attention. However, I haven’t been able to find out whether Platsa furniture offers drawers with a soft-close function.
I am interested in knowing if it is possible to get drawers with a gentle closing mechanism, i.e. soft-close, in the Platsa range, or if this feature is only available in other IKEA systems. Maybe someone has experience with Platsa or is very familiar with the current product range.
I would appreciate concrete answers, including information on availability or suitable alternatives. Thanks in advance!

IKEA sells separate soft-close dampers that can be retrofitted to the PLATSA drawers. However, it is important to ensure that the dampers are compatible with the slide system.

Hello!
I can explain this a bit further: The PLATSA drawers come standard without soft-close, as this system is designed to be more budget-friendly. Soft-close is typically included in IKEA’s higher-end series like METOD or BESTÅ.
If soft-close is important to you, you can purchase special soft-close dampers or rail kits and install them yourself. This requires some DIY skills but is doable.
I might also be able to offer some tips if you decide to retrofit them.

This topic is actually asked about quite often.
That is correct. IKEA does not offer soft-close drawers for PLATSA. However, there are various mechanical dampers available as accessories or from third-party suppliers. Please pay close attention to compatibility and installation instructions to ensure everything fits and works properly in the end.
