Hello everyone, I am currently looking into the correct way to fix Ikea Metod plinth boards and have a few questions. I have seen that there are different methods to attach the plinth boards – sometimes with clips, sometimes screwed or glued. My main question is: How do I properly and securely attach the Ikea Metod plinth boards so that they don’t later become loose or wobble? Which fixing materials are best suited for the material, and what is the cleanest way to install them? I would appreciate if someone could provide a detailed description of the recommended procedure, ideally with tips for preparation and installation of the boards. Thanks in advance!

The baseboards for Ikea Metod are best attached using the original clipsThis is indeed the key point, but not always perfect. The clips provide support, but if the base cabinets are not perfectly level, the baseboards can later experience stress and come loose. I recommend carefully aligning the plinths before installation and using small wedges if necessary. The choice of screws is also important; it’s better to use shorter, thinner screws to avoid damaging the material.

I'm also wondering whether I should simply screw the clips to the floor or if they really need to be attached to the kitchen cabinets. I think the original instructions are a bit unclear on this point. Additionally, I've considered whether the moldings could be fixed with mounting adhesive as well, to increase stability without affecting the appearance.
Hey, I’ve also had my experience with the Metod baseboards 😄 It’s definitely best to use the clips on the cabinet side. That way they hold perfectly, and you can easily remove the baseboards if needed without damaging anything. I’d recommend using mounting adhesive very sparingly because otherwise, you won’t be able to remove it cleanly if you want to make changes later. So it’s better to rely on the clips and be careful when aligning – that way you have a solid foundation for your kitchen project!
