Hello everyone, I am planning to get a new wardrobe and have my eye on the Ikea Pax system. Since I am not very skilled with DIY and don’t want to spend too much time on assembly, I am especially interested in whether there are Ikea Pax wardrobes that come pre-assembled or at least partially pre-assembled. So far, I have only found information saying that you have to assemble everything yourself, but maybe someone here has experience with delivery services, special models, or accessories that make the assembly much easier. I look forward to any helpful advice and tips!

One more tip: If you order interior components such as drawers and clothes rails in advance, you can complete the installation a bit faster since you will have everything ready. However, a fully pre-assembled wardrobe is not available at this point.

It is conceivable that Ikea might offer partially assembled versions in certain countries or for special events, but such cases are rare and not part of the regular product range. It is also important to mention the modular flexibility of the Pax systems. Pre-assembly would limit this adaptability.

This also explains why Ikea relies on complete self-assembly – because the wardrobe can be easily modified and customized.

Pre-assembling would hinder flexibility.

That's correct, flexibility is the core feature of Pax. Insisting on ready-made parts significantly reduces individuality. This also applies to color combinations and dimensions – frames would be much more expensive with fixed, pre-made furniture.

Another point for those who see assembly as a hurdle:

- The assembly steps for Pax are well thought out, with clear labels on the parts and detailed instructions.
- Many users report that assembly can be completed in 2–3 hours if you take your time.
- The Ikea assembly service, however, usually costs 100 euros and up and is provided by external contractors.

My advice: If you are not experienced with DIY, it’s worth using this service; otherwise, with some patience, you can assemble everything yourself.

Thank you for the previous answers; they have been very helpful. I am also interested in whether Ikea offers additional items that make assembly easier, such as pre-assembled shelves, doors, or other modules. Alternatively, is it possible to order parts of the cabinet separately pre-assembled? I was wondering if it might be possible to receive at least doors or drawers pre-assembled to reduce the effort.

The doors for the Pax wardrobe are not delivered pre-assembled. They must be attached to the wardrobe carcasses first. Drawers and internal components also come as kits that need to be assembled. In summary: the delivery always consists of individual parts, and separate pre-assembly of doors or drawers is not provided by Ikea.
