Hello everyone, I recently purchased several Ikea Pax wardrobes and plan to place them on a floor that is unfortunately quite uneven. The irregularities reach up to 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) diagonally over about 1 meter (3.3 feet), which of course affects the stability of the wardrobes. My main question is: how can I effectively stabilize Ikea Pax wardrobes on uneven floors so that they neither tip over nor get damaged? I am inclined to adjust the feet, but since Ikea Pax wardrobes do not come with adjustable feet by default, I wonder if there are any recommended solutions or tricks to compensate for the unevenness. I would really appreciate practical experience, tips on specific materials, assembly methods, or alternatives to the original feet. Thanks in advance!

Original Ikea PAX wardrobe feet are unfortunately not height-adjustable. It is best to use small furniture wedges made of wood or plastic, which you place under the wardrobe feet. Alternatively, you can retrofit adjustable furniture feet.

Hey, I had the same problem and simply bought adjustable flexible plastic feet! Great solution and very stable! 💪 Don’t get discouraged, it works really well.

The issue of stabilizing Ikea Pax wardrobes on uneven floors is actually quite common. In general, I have analyzed three effective solutions:

- Replacing the original feet with adjustable furniture feet that can be finely tuned via screw threads. When doing this, it is important to check the attachment points of the feet on the underside of the wardrobe, as Ikea typically uses fixed plastic feet.
- Using flat pads or wedges, preferably made of non-slip rubber, to raise individual feet. A combination of wooden wedges plus felt-backed non-slip pads can further increase stability.
- Alternatively, adjusting the floor under the wardrobes is also an option, for example by using thin OSB boards that have been leveled and supported beforehand.

It is important to secure the wardrobes to the wall in the end, for example with the included wall bracket, since stabilization on uneven floors should not rely on the feet alone.

A question regarding this: What are the exact deviations in floor height at the individual wardrobe feet? With more than 1 cm (0.4 inches) difference, the stress on the joints and hinges increases.

Thank you for the detailed response. The deviations vary by area as follows: two feet are almost level, the third is about 1.2 cm (0.5 inches) higher, and the fourth is even 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) lower. So the floor is uneven, meaning I will probably have to adjust all four points somehow. The idea with the OSB boards sounds interesting, but I wonder if that might unnecessarily reduce the room height. Wall mounting is already planned on my end, so that is not a problem.

To keep Ikea Pax wardrobes permanently stable on uneven floors, I recommend the following approach:

- Remove the original feet and replace them with height-adjustable furniture legs with threaded sleeves that allow fine adjustment of at least 2 cm (1 inch). Make sure they are securely screwed to the bottom of the wardrobe.

- Use rubber or felt pads under the feet to improve grip on smooth or slightly sloping floors and to minimize scratches.

- Check the floor’s level before installation using a spirit level or laser level. For larger unevenness, a leveling underlay can be helpful.

- Secure the wardrobes additionally using the supplied wall mounting brackets to prevent tipping hazards.

- Avoid makeshift wooden shims, as they may absorb moisture over time and warp. Plastic or rubber pads are more durable.

These steps help reduce stress on the furniture structure and hinges while promoting long-term durability.
