Hello everyone, I am currently planning to assemble an Ikea PAX wardrobe in my bedroom. Unfortunately, the floor in the room is not completely level and has some slight unevenness. My question is: How do you install Ikea PAX wardrobes on uneven floors to ensure that the wardrobe stands securely and stably, without rocking or appearing crooked? Are there any special techniques, tools, or adjustments to consider? So far, I have only the standard Ikea instructions, which give little guidance regarding uneven floors. I would appreciate any practical advice.
The key factor with uneven floors is a precise height adjustment of the base feet of the PAX wardrobe. In general, the following can be recommended:
- Use the adjustable base feet provided by Ikea, located under the cabinet.
- Measure the floor unevenness accurately with a spirit level or a digital inclinometer.
- Adjust the feet so that the cabinet stands completely level.
- If the unevenness is too large, it may be helpful to use small wooden or furniture shims under the feet as a support.
- Alternatively, you can use a thin OSB board or plywood as a base, carefully cut to be level beforehand.
This approach ensures stability and prevents wobbling.

I can easily understand how frustrating it can be when the floor is uneven, but you still want the cabinet to stand firmly and securely. I experienced the same and tried various methods. My advice would be: be patient when adjusting the feet and regularly check with a spirit level to ensure the cabinet is truly level. Sometimes you think you’ve got it right, only to find a small wobble spot later. This is completely normal! Another important tip: if you can fasten the cabinet to the wall, it greatly improves stability and reduces wobbling on uneven floors.
