Hello everyone,

I am planning to install an Ikea Pax wardrobe system in my apartment, but I have the problem that the floor in this room is not level. There are slight uneven areas, especially around the edges and in some parts of the middle. My question is: How can I securely and permanently fix an Ikea Pax piece of furniture on an uneven floor so that it stands stable, does not wobble, or get damaged?

I am particularly interested in which measures are effective to compensate for these uneven spots while also optimizing the attachment to the wall or floor.

Who has experience with similar situations? Are there, for example, special adjustable feet, leveling plates, or other products that have proven useful?

I look forward to your tips and a detailed discussion. Thanks in advance!

Hey Duman45, great question! 😊

I had a similar issue with my Pax, so here are my tips: First, use a spirit level to accurately measure where the biggest uneven spots are. Then you can use furniture shims or special adjustable feet that you place under the cabinet bases. IKEA usually only offers simple feet, but you can also look for height-adjustable furniture feet outside of IKEA.

Also, always secure the unit to the wall with the supplied wall anchors! This ensures stability, even if the floor isn’t perfectly level.

Don’t give up, you’ll manage it! 😊👍

Hello Duman45,

I want to give a more detailed answer because stability on uneven floors is really important, especially for tall furniture like the Pax.

First, the basics:
- Measure unevenness: Use a spirit level over several spots on the floor and note the height differences.
- Check the feet: Ikea Pax furniture feet are not adjustable, so I recommend either replacing them with height-adjustable furniture feet or placing flexible shims under the feet.

For securing:
- Wall anchoring is mandatory to prevent wobbling and tipping over.
- Especially on uneven floors, it makes sense to use screws with wall plugs (anchors) and, if needed, longer plugs to ensure a more secure attachment.

Tip for shimming:
- You can place very thin furniture shims made of plastic or wood (between 2-10 mm (0.08-0.4 inches)) under the feet to compensate for unevenness.
- Important: The shims should be slip-resistant.

After completion, check whether the cabinet stands firmly and does not wobble. If it does, adjust multiple times as needed.

Many people make the mistake of only fixing the furniture to the wall and ignoring the floor – this is inadequate because without a secure base, the cabinet will still wobble.

I hope this helps you!

Hi, just buy adjustable furniture feet and screw them under the Pax feet. Then fix it normally to the wall. Nothing complicated.

For additional information:

- Irregularities greater than 5 mm (0.2 inches) should definitely be leveled.
- Adjustable furniture feet are recommended, as Ikea Pax feet allow only limited adjustment.
- When securing to the wall, make sure the anchors are suitable for the wall material (e.g., solid masonry, drywall).
- If multiple furniture units are to be connected, a cross brace is advisable to increase stability.
- Before installation, precisely measure all floor dimensions to avoid later adjustments.

These measures can ensure a secure and trouble-free installation in the long term.

Exactly, I completely agree! In my case, there was an 8 mm (0.3 inches) uneven spot in one corner, so I combined several thin shims. The next time I set up the furniture, it stood rock-solid.

If you also put felt pads under the shims, you’ll get fewer scratches and scuffs on the floor. Really helpful!
