Florian B19 Feb 2021 22:12Hello everyone,
We are currently renovating and wanted to replace the windows as well. We obtained quotes and discussed everything in person on-site with a window installer. The windows and patio door were delivered and installed. During installation, various scratches, dirt, and other damage occurred. The patio door (sliding element) was even delivered differently than what was agreed upon. Additionally, there are many scratches on the guide rail. Incorrect handles were also installed. When I questioned whether this was correct, I was only asked if I was trying to fool the window installer. What should I do?
Best regards

Have you placed the order? A man’s word is his bond. So don’t argue now. What exactly did you order? Was it clearly specified? If it’s wrong—and that is certain—then it’s wrong, and payment should only be made once it’s corrected. Scratches should be visible; some people almost look for flaws like that to get a discount, but some workers are just so careless that it becomes unacceptable.

Florian B19 Feb 2021 22:30A man stands by his word. The sliding element was ordered with anthracite on the outside and white on the inside. What arrived, however, is a window with an anthracite frame and a chrome track. This wasn’t agreed upon and looks ridiculous. Additionally, there are large scratches every 5cm (2 inches) along the track. No one should have to search for that. He could have said something about the trim or whatever beforehand. This isn’t about not standing by the agreement, but what can I do if he acts completely unreasonable?

For the patio door (sliding element), one was even delivered that was not exactly as agreed.

Also, the wrong handles were installed.

I find the headline here quite specific, as well as statements like “even delivered incorrectly”... and I hope that words like nonsense were not “thrown” at the contract partner, as happens here in the forum.
The scratches all seem to follow the same pattern, just less noticeable toward the bottom. Have you checked whether they are residues that can be cleaned off?
Otherwise, the formal route with a notice of defect is the best way to proceed – have you already paid?
