ᐅ Is a Satellite System Still Necessary for New Builds, or Is IPTV Sufficient?

Hello everyone,
Please forgive me if I haven’t searched through hundreds of pages. My basic question is whether you still consider a satellite dish necessary or if you would just skip it altogether. About our profile: When we watch TV, it’s exclusively public broadcasting channels and no private channels. However, mostly we watch on-demand content like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and so on. In this context, we’re really starting to doubt whether we can save ourselves the 850 EUR gross. What do you think? Should we just stream the public broadcasting channels via Apple TV, or is it still better to have a satellite dish installed?
Thanks & good luck, Commanderchen

Apparently, it's only available for customers of Telekom and Vodafone, if I understand correctly?!Yes. 1&1 used to offer it, but after switching to their own product, it was discontinued for them as well.SenorRaul7 schrieb:

However, there are often issues during major events. For example, there were reportedly significant problems during the FCB vs. BVB game, as mentioned.

But when even during games like Mainz vs. Union, with a 400,000 kbit/s fiber connection over LAN, the picture is just pixelated mush for 45 out of 90 minutes—as in my case... then I’d much rather watch properly via satellite.
This is how it looks. The costs for a satellite dish are simply negligible.
The added value you get, however, is enormous. If you enjoy live sporting events, all other reception options are suboptimal.
Nevertheless, you can use video apps and IPTV to take full advantage of everything available.
Why limit yourself and give up all possibilities? Just for aesthetics? Or because of a one-time cost of a few hundred euros?
Certainly not.

For me, satellite TV is too expensive and unattractive. That’s why IPTV. All goals achieved. Football interests me about as much as the crime series Tatort.
