It would be great if some of you could share pictures of your terraces. With so many options available, it can be difficult to make a decision.

What materials and colors did you choose, and why? What has your experience been like after 5 years or more? How large is your terrace? What did you pay for it? Have you incorporated any features such as umbrella stands, raised garden beds, or similar elements? Did you do the work yourselves? Do you know any reliable suppliers for materials that you would recommend? What would you do differently next time?

There are surely many other homeowners who would appreciate photos and tips. Thanks in advance!

I'll start then. Our terrace has been a construction site forever (like many other things, you’re never really finished). But here are some pictures of the process. I can take a photo tonight or so to show how it looks now.

Concrete pavers on a sand base (a moderately big mistake, ants carry the sand upward and grass grows at the edges)

About 40 m² (430 sq ft)

Cost: Unknown, as it was included in the house price.

That looks quite expensive, doesn’t it? I also like those slabs with various sizes and laying patterns.

Solid WPC decking, roughly the width of a semi-detached house, about 7.5 x 3.5 meters (25 x 12 feet).
We didn’t want paving because of all the joints and the cold feeling underfoot in winter (yes, I like being barefoot). Color was obvious since it matches the brickwork.
As you can see, there are two loungers, and when guests come, we use a beer garden table set (we enjoy being in the garden but don’t like eating outside, so no fancy tables, etc.).

There is a half-height raised bed in front, as you can see.

Long-term experience: none yet, of course, since we’ve only had one winter and half a summer so far.

Price? Uh, for 28 square meters (300 square feet) of decking plus the substructure, clips, etc., we ended up at about 2800 net, excluding labor.

Why does the lawn look so fuzzy?
