Hello everyone,
we are in the process of building a single-family house with a basement suitable for living. This is the design we have come up with. I would like to hear from you if you see any possibilities for improvements.
On the ground floor, there is a side entrance door on the right. The carport will be located there.
In the basement living area, the children's rooms face south. From there, it should be possible to access the terrace and the garden.
I look forward to your tips and suggestions!

The hallway is not an issue with an open wooden staircase Even if it is open, I personally find it not very inviting, but that’s just my subjective opinion.

Kitchen details don’t really matter at this early stage That’s not entirely true. Depending on how important the kitchen is to you and whether you have a dream kitchen that absolutely must fit in, you should consider what the room needs to be like to accommodate it.
Connections for both the kitchen and the bathroom also need to be planned accordingly.

The connections for the bathroom need to be planned I already mentioned that. However, the bathroom’s location is sufficient.

That’s not entirely correct. I was referring to the “counter,” not the entire kitchen.
And yes, many things are subjective. But being open is not as bad as being closed :-p
I prefer option 4a. I find it appealing that the master bedroom for seniors and the entire suite are planned on the ground floor from the start. I like the floor plans, but once I see the elevations, I have some reservations: the brick cladding seems borderline suitable, and the hipped roof—especially over the recessed top floor—feels like an inappropriate combination. On the other hand, since watching last Saturday’s Wilsberg episode, I know that Overbeck likes liverwurst with applesauce.

Which option are you each referring to? I mainly looked at option 4a and posted about that.
