ᐅ Which type of staircase did you choose?

Hello,

the range of staircases is very large, and we don’t like the yellow-orange colored beech staircases so much. Which staircase did you choose, and are you satisfied with it?

Best regards,
Sabine

@Curly,
I don't want to shock you. But 4-5 k€ is not really expensive yet...

You get what you pay for....

I completely agree. We paid 4000€ just for a beech wood staircase without a railing. With the railing and oak wood, we ended up at about 6600€. Costs add up quickly.

We will have an open staircase painted white with dark-stained beech wood treads. Compared to the standard beech wood staircase described in the building specifications, this has cost an additional €1800. However, we still have an appointment with the stair builder and would like to have the staircase as a closed design. We also prefer a continuous Omega handrail instead of a segmented one. Our staircase has a quarter turn.

The staircase will look approximately like this (but with a continuous handrail):

Interior view: staircase with dark wooden treads, white railing; vase on right step.

Dust is much less noticeable on dark textured surfaces, such as Via Lattea in the attachment.

Black marble stairs with stainless steel supports and warm light reflections on the wall.

From experience, I can tell you that a granite staircase isn’t exactly warm underfoot. However, since you usually don’t stand on it for more than a minute, it doesn’t really matter. For me, the advantages outweigh that: granite is extremely durable, looks good, and is very quiet. In our old house, you can’t even hear when someone is walking on the stairs.

In our new build, we paid an additional 1,800 euros for the concrete staircase, but without any covering. The granite covering costs just under 3,000 euros (for treads and risers) plus installation.

Dust on the dark surfaces?
Heat is stored and released at different rates depending on the building materials.
With underfloor heating, this process is quite consistent.
Therefore, the temperature of the individual materials within the thermal insulation layer (as long as they are not directly at the heat exchanger) should not vary too much from one another.
