Hello,
the range of staircases is very large, and we donât like the yellow-orange colored beech staircases so much. Which staircase did you choose, and are you satisfied with it?
Best regards,
Sabine

We have a concrete staircase with tile covering from the basement to the ground floor (the same tiles as in the hallway in the basement and ground floor). Because our entrance is at the basement level due to the slope of the land, we use this staircase every day. For that reason, we didnât want wood there. People do occasionally walk up these stairs wearing outdoor shoes.
From the ground floor to the upper floor, we have a cantilevered solid oiled beech wood staircase. The additional cost for oak was too high for us. I think the wood here is perfect and very cozy.

How is your staircase supported in front of the window? You donât have stringers, do you?
Best regards
Sabine

Regards,
SabineThere is a metal strip installed, fixed on both sides into the window reveal, which supports the steps. (It could also look nice in stainless steel; we just used painted white metal.) You can see it clearly in the photo as a white edge running parallel to the glass pane along the stair treads.
Iâm also not a fan of granite stairs. To me, they always feel cold and uninviting, and I immediately associate them with apartment buildings. Additionally, granite often seems slippery. We will have a concrete staircase with a wood covering (or vinyl with a wood finish). For me, thatâs the ultimate choice: quiet and warm. But tastes do differ. For example, our architect is a big fan of granite stairs.
In our current house (rental), we have a steel staircase with a wood covering. It does make some noise when walked on, but I donât necessarily find that bothersome.
