Hello everyone, I am currently looking closely into Ikea Hemnes furniture, especially regarding the availability of spare parts. My question is: Which spare parts for Ikea Hemnes are generally easiest to find, and where have you had the best experience obtaining these parts – whether directly from Ikea, through third-party sellers, or alternative sources? I have noticed that some specific parts can sometimes be difficult to find, such as replacement screws or drawer slides. It would be great if you could share your practical tips, sources, and experiences related to delivery service or the quality of the spare parts. Thanks in advance!

Back panels are unfortunately not always available as replacement parts from Ikea.
I can confirm that. Alternative replacement back panels made from plywood or MDF are often the best solution, as Ikea's options are limited in this area.

A small tip: Call Ikea customer service or ask directly at the store – they can often order spare parts that are not listed in the online shop. This is especially true for Hemnes handles, drawer slides, and connectors.

I would like to point out critically that the availability of spare parts for Ikea Hemnes is apparently not always as good as is often claimed. This varies greatly depending on the location. In some regions, there are significant delays, and spare parts are simply unavailable. Furthermore, the quality of the delivered parts is not always consistent – some are aftermarket replacements. Anyone relying on original quality should check carefully. Does anyone have reliable experience regarding the long-term durability of the spare parts compared to the original components?

That’s an interesting observation. So far, I have only received original parts from Ikea when ordering replacements. Especially with Hemnes, the parts are standardized, which ensures consistent quality. In my experience, deviations only occur with third-party suppliers.

Hemnes spare parts that are most readily available: handles, screws, connectors, and drawer slides directly from Ikea. For back panels, I would recommend local carpenters or hardware stores.

Regarding quality, a further note: replacement parts from the Ikea system are functionally well-matched to the Hemnes series. However, I always recommend careful installation, especially for moving parts such as drawer slides, and to request a return or exchange if there are fit discrepancies. Older furniture often has tighter tolerances because the material may have warped over time. For back panels, the issue can be that matching replacement parts are usually not offered, as these are often custom-cut. In general, I would advise Hemnes users to contact Ikea customer service in serious cases and provide as much detail as possible about the item number and the piece of furniture. Do you have any experience with customer service regarding specific replacement parts?
