Hello everyone, I am currently planning to expand some of my IKEA Platsa cabinets and make minor repairs. This raises the question: which spare parts for the IKEA Platsa system are the easiest to obtain and most readily available? I am especially interested in which components can be bought separately without having to replace an entire module. It would also be helpful to know whether IKEA regularly stocks certain parts or if one typically relies on third-party suppliers. Are there any experiences regarding which spare parts are most commonly needed for Platsa and the best way to source them? Thanks in advance for your knowledge and tips!

Hey jopar, great question! I always appreciate it when people take their furniture projects into their own hands instead of just throwing everything away. 😊 With IKEA Platsa, it’s true that the large modules are often not readily available as individual replacement parts, but smaller components are usually easier to get. These mainly include:
- Doors and fronts
- Hinges and bar handles
- Shelves

IKEA often offers replacement parts, especially for hinges or specific IKEA screws. If you contact IKEA customer service, you can usually get the key parts directly or at least order them. If that doesn’t work out, you can often find used replacement parts in various forums or on classified sites like eBay Kleinanzeigen. Just keep at it – it’s worth it! And yes, hinges and locks on Platsa are common wear parts.

Good luck with your project and keep going!

Really? I think that’s an oversimplification that IKEA actually encourages. Once you’re dealing with it, you’re more likely to just buy a completely new unit rather than take the trouble to look for parts and do the repairs yourself. The whole system is quite modular, but getting replacement parts is often a hassle—especially if you don’t have a store nearby or aren’t a specifically registered customer. Sure, hinges and handles are standard parts, but you can have bad luck even with individual side panels.

Also, I wonder if it’s wise to rely on customer service, which often involves waiting on hold for hours. Alternative suppliers or replicas might be worth considering.

Of course, I don’t just want to complain—I think it’s good when people give it a try—but the idea that Platsa replacement parts are easily accessible is, in my view, somewhat exaggerated.

Hello everyone, I would like to provide a clear summary here, especially for those looking for practical tips on buying replacement parts for IKEA Platsa.

First, a classification of replacement parts by ease of availability: easy, medium, and difficult to obtain:

- Easy:
- Hinges (standard, often the same as for other IKEA furniture)
- Screws, fasteners
- Handles and bars
- Shelves (usually consistent dimensions)

- Medium:
- Side panels of individual modules (may vary, but often directly orderable from IKEA)
- Back panels (sometimes problematic due to special dimensions or materials)

- Difficult:
- Complete fronts (sometimes discontinued models)
- Special connectors and adapters that IKEA usually does not supply individually

My tips:
- Go directly to the IKEA service center and ask in person if they have replacement parts available.
- Always note the exact article number of your module, otherwise the search will be difficult.
- Use the IKEA manual as a reference, since many replacement parts are listed there with numbers.
- Third-party suppliers can be a last resort, but compatibility may sometimes differ.

In summary, I recommend: for all screws, hinges, and handles, IKEA is usually a reliable source. For larger parts like side panels or fronts, it can be more complicated, but it is always worth asking. Better not to buy the entire furniture again right away!
