Hello everyone, I have a question regarding spare parts procurement for Ikea Platsa. Specifically, I’m interested in which spare parts for the Platsa system are the easiest and most reliable to order—considering availability, delivery times, and possible differences in part quality. Since Ikea often only sells complete modules, I wonder whether items like screws, fittings, fronts, or other components are easier to order separately, and how practical ordering through Ikea’s spare parts service is in reality. Perhaps someone also has experience with whether there are often issues in practice with missing or hard-to-get Platsa spare parts? I would appreciate detailed answers, as I want to anticipate whether I should purchase entire modules or if targeted spare part orders really work.

Hello, regarding the question about the screws, I can definitely say: Most screws in the Platsa system are actually standard sizes, meaning common dimensions that you can find in any well-stocked hardware store. However, there are also special coatings or sometimes combinations with plastic parts that Ikea provides to make assembly easier and ensure a precise fit. For everyday repairs, you can often use replacement parts from the hardware store. If you want to be completely sure, it helps to check the assembly instructions or take detailed photos of the existing screws, as Ikea sometimes specifies the screw size there explicitly.

This matches my findings. It is important to distinguish between screw types. Some are simply standard wood screws; others are designed specifically for furniture connections with plastic components (e.g., cam connectors, cam locks). These are almost exclusively available through Ikea or specialized suppliers. So if replacements are needed, the screws should be carefully identified.

For spare parts that are the most difficult to obtain, I would mention the large front panels, as their delivery time often takes several weeks. Screws and fittings, on the other hand, can usually be ordered without much trouble through the spare parts service.

In my experience, hinges are the replacement parts that Ikea provides most reliably for Platsa. These are original, always fit, and are delivered promptly. Other smaller parts are usually also readily available.

Thank you very much for the numerous helpful tips. In summary, it seems that with Ikea Platsa, screws, fittings (hinges, drawer runners), and small connectors can be reordered relatively easily. However, for front panels and larger components, longer delivery times and higher costs should be expected. I will take this into account when planning my spare parts order. If anyone has advice on specific ordering procedures or serial numbers, I would be happy to hear it.
