Hello everyone, I’m planning to upgrade my IKEA Metod kitchen with new backsplashes because the standard options aren’t flexible enough for me. So I’m wondering: what materials work best as kitchen backsplashes for IKEA Metod? My main concerns are durability, moisture resistance, and of course easy handling and installation, as I want to do this myself as much as possible. Are there any experiences or recommendations for specific materials like glass, tiles, HPL panels, stainless steel, or even creative alternatives? And what should I consider regarding maintenance and longevity when choosing? Looking forward to your insights!

It has a matte finish, is resistant to fingerprints, heat resistant up to about 150°C (302°F), and very scratch resistant. Ideal for a modern kitchen that needs to withstand a lot. Installation is straightforward, as it is mounted as a panel, similar to HPL. It is compatible with IKEA Metod if the dimensions are correct.

HPL panels are cheaper, but as nonere correctly points out, they are sensitive to heat – meaning you shouldn’t place a pot directly against them. That’s an important point, thanks! What about cleaning? Are there differences between the mentioned materials, especially if you cook a lot and occasionally get grease splashes on the wall? It would be great if someone with practical experience could share their insights. I’m also interested in whether you can easily cut backsplash panels for Metod yourself or if that’s something better left to professionals.
