I would like to start a comprehensive discussion on the topic "Which assembly aids make building the IKEA Metod kitchen easier?"

The Metod kitchen cabinet system assembly is known to be quite extensive and sometimes challenging, especially when working alone or without professional help. I am particularly interested in which tools, devices, or techniques you use to make the assembly more efficient, safer, and time-saving.

Please consider all kinds of aids – from small tricks to special tools to simple everyday items that you repurpose. It is important to me that the tips are practical and can actually be applied in everyday situations, not just theoretical recommendations.

I look forward to your experiences and suggestions!

Cordless screwdrivers, clamps, and an extra pair of hands are the most important.

For the back panels, having a straight wall or a support surface to lean against is also very helpful.

Assembly wedges for alignment are practical.

I know that well. I assembled the Metod system alone last year, and I made a small helper rail from wood that I clamped under the shelves to keep the modules from slipping.

I also brought a power strip with an extension cord to be able to use the cordless drill flexibly without constantly looking for an available outlet.

What I can also recommend: having a second person really helps when installing the upper cabinets. If that’s not possible, there are mounting frames that can secure the cabinets, which can make the job much easier.

In summary: preparation and suitable aids save both nerves and time.

Without a good cordless drill, assembling Metod can really be difficult. 🚀

retau is absolutely right. Especially for assembling Metod, I always recommend using a cordless drill with adjustable torque settings, as this helps prevent damage to the wood surfaces and avoids over-tightening.

A small additional tip:

When installing the hinges, it’s helpful to mark the drill holes in advance and, if necessary, pre-drill them with a pilot drill bit to ensure the screws hold better and don’t slip.

I also recommend hanging the Metod doors with the help of a second person – they can be quite heavy and require precise adjustment.

Finally: Take good care of your back and, if possible, work with at least one other person to avoid accidents!
