Hello everyone, I am currently planning to equip my Pax system with suitable sliding doors and would like to know: What different types of sliding doors are available for Pax? I am especially interested in the differences in the track systems, sliding mechanisms, and materials, as well as possible special solutions or useful tips for selection and installation. Are there, for example, differences in maximum door sizes or designs that are particularly suitable for small rooms? I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Hey Felatau, great that you’re tackling this topic! 🙂 For the Pax wardrobes, there are basically two main types of sliding doors: One uses classic tracks at the top and bottom edges, which provides especially stable guidance. The other option comes with a “hanging system,” where the doors are suspended at the top and don’t require a bottom guide rail, which looks really sleek and also protects the floor!

In terms of materials, you can find doors made of wood, glass, and even mirrored doors that make the room appear larger. Important: The doors for Pax wardrobes usually have a maximum height of up to 236 cm (93 inches). By the way, there are also soft-close mechanisms available that allow the doors to close very gently – a really great addition!

I would recommend choosing the hanging systems for narrower rooms because they visually appear lighter and save space. Good luck with your project, it’s going to be great!

Hello everyone and hello Felatau, very good question, because choosing the right sliding door for Pax is not always as simple as it seems at first glance.

To add to Khalil’s contribution: Sliding doors for Pax are offered either with guide rails mounted both at the top and bottom, or there are systems with only an upper guide rail combined with a roller mechanism underneath. The latter especially makes opening and closing easier when the floor is uneven or carpets are installed.

In terms of materials, you can choose from several options:
- Solid wood doors, which are sturdy and provide good insulation
- Glass fronts (sometimes frosted or with decorative patterns), which create a modern atmosphere
- Mirror doors, which visually enlarge spaces

Door widths are usually standardized and range between 50 and 75 cm (20 and 30 inches) per door, depending on the cabinet width. It is also important to consider whether you need the doors to slide inward or outward on one side, and how many doors your Pax system will have (2- or 3-door versions).

Additionally, there are special solutions such as distinctive handle strips or integrated push-to-open mechanisms, which are particularly popular with minimalist designs. Hope this helps you narrow down your options!

For a systematic overview: sliding doors for the Pax carcass mainly differ according to the guiding system. Here are the main types:

- Bottom and top track system: The doors run in fixed tracks installed at the top and bottom edges of the wardrobe. This ensures the doors remain stable and can be adjusted if necessary.
- Top-hung rail system: In this case, the doors are hung only at the top in the running rails, while guidance at the bottom is provided by small rollers or guides on the inside of the wardrobe base.

Additionally, the following aspects are important:
- Maximum door height is usually 236 cm (93 inches), but varies depending on the door model.
- Widths between 50 and 75 cm (20 and 30 inches) are common, depending on the number of doors (2 or 3 per wardrobe).
- Materials include painted wood, mirror surfaces, glass fronts with matte color finishes, as well as high-gloss versions.

During installation, precise measurements and secure mounting of the track systems are essential to ensure smooth operation and long-lasting durability. Some models offer optional soft-close fittings for gentle door closing.

These options are compatible with the original Pax sliding doors; third-party solutions also exist but should be checked carefully for safety and proper fit.

Sliding doors for the Pax frame mainly differ based on the guiding system.

Exactly, there are track systems with guides both at the top and bottom, or only at the top. Both work well but have different constructions. For small rooms, top-guided doors are better because they require less space.

Material and design mostly come down to personal preference. Wood is more durable, while glass and mirrors make the room appear larger. Proper installation is essential for any system; otherwise, the doors may stick.
