Hello everyone, I’m currently assembling my Ikea Platsa furniture and getting really frustrated because several screws have broken while screwing them in. Has anyone experienced this problem before and can advise me on the best way to proceed when Ikea PLATSA screws break? Should I try to remove the broken screws somehow, get replacements, or are there other practical solutions to keep the structure solid and secure? Looking forward to your tips!

If screws break, first try to remove the screw head with a special extractor. If that doesn’t work, Ikea usually provides replacement screws, or you can look for a suitable replacement at a hardware store. Do not use force, as it will only make things worse.

Hello Mireson, I am familiar with the problem of broken screws in PLATSA. First, it is important to carefully inspect the damaged area to avoid causing further damage. If the screw is embedded in the wood and the head has broken off, a screw extractor often helps. Alternatively, you can try to gently grip the remaining part with small pliers and pull it out. Ikea usually provides replacement screws without any issues if you can no longer use the original parts. The key point is not to compromise the stability of the furniture – it’s better to proceed carefully and, if in doubt, get replacement parts.

That is absolutely correct. Additionally, I recommend carefully checking the drill diameter and the depth of the screw before using a screw extractor to avoid unnecessary damage. Ikea PLATSA uses standardized fasteners; replacement screws should match the originals exactly – these can be obtained relatively easily by contacting Ikea customer service. For broken screws, it is best to work in small increments and use precise tools to prevent further damage.

Oh man, these small tricky screws can be really frustrating when they break – almost a classic issue with furniture assembly, right? My advice: grab a small screw extractor from your toolbox, work carefully, and once you have removed the remains, just ask Ikea for replacement screws. They are usually quite accommodating with cases like this. And very important: don’t force it too much, or the furniture might not hold together properly. Good luck, you can do it!

Request replacement screws from Ikea and remove them carefully. Use a screw extractor if the head is broken off. This is the safest method.
