Hello everyone,

Due to my job, I move very frequently and own several IKEA Platsa furniture pieces. My question is: How secure and stable are the Platsa units when moved often? Specifically, I am interested in how well the construction and the materials withstand repeated assembly and disassembly without losing stability or wearing out faster.

I mainly use the furniture for storage in living and work areas, so it’s important that they remain durable and safe after multiple moves. Are there any known weak points or tips on how to avoid damage from repeated assembly? I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Hey, great question! I have moved several times myself and have assembled and disassembled my Platsa furniture multiple times. They are very flexible and really durable! 😊 Of course, if you’re not careful, screws or joints can loosen, but with a bit of caution and regularly tightening them, everything works out well.

My tip: Always check all parts before assembly and handle them gently. That way, you can enjoy them for a long time! 👏

Platsa furniture is designed for modular assembly, which makes it generally well-suited for moving. Regularly tighten screws with the appropriate tool; otherwise, there are no issues.

The Platsa series from IKEA is based on a carcass made of particleboard with a laminate finish and sturdy connectors. Repeated assembly and disassembly can especially cause increased wear on the screw joints, as the drilled holes may become loose over time.

From a technical perspective, for frequent relocations it is advisable to:
- Tighten screws during each assembly
- Keep spare dowels and screws on hand if necessary
- Renew particularly worn connection points using specialized repair kits

This way, the lifespan can be extended despite frequent moves.

If you move frequently, I would recommend handling all edges and mounting points with care. Otherwise, the material may swell or break more quickly.
If possible, use boxes to protect the parts.

From my own experience, I can say that Platsa units are real workhorses! 😄 Of course, a bit of careful handling is a good idea – kind of like a furniture “wellness program” with every move. A little tightening of screws, careful disassembly, and proper packing will keep the pieces almost like new.

They’re also budget-friendly if anything needs to be replaced. So no worries – your Platsa units can definitely handle it! 😉
