Hello everyone,

I’m interested in knowing which ceiling height you have chosen or are likely to choose.

Are you satisfied with your choice? Looking back, would you choose a different ceiling height? If yes, why?

Best regards
Ddorfer

P.S. For the survey, please select the ceiling height that is closest to yours.

Hello

In our house, the ceiling height varies due to the shed roof, starting at 2.60 m (8 ft 6 in) on the northeast side and rising to 3.40 m (11 ft 2 in) on the southwest side. The front door is 2.28 m (7 ft 6 in) high.
We are still undecided about the interior doors: 2.11 m (6 ft 11 in) or 2.26 m (7 ft 5 in)?
In an initial quote, both heights were offered at the same price.
That makes the decision for 2.26 m (7 ft 5 in) easy.

It gets more complicated with the living room windows. We are considering area curtains. With a ceiling height of 3.40 m (11 ft 2 in), standard solutions become impossible here as well.

We still have to build.... so we don’t have that problem yet...

We’re not really fans of curtains; we prefer a more ‘Dutch-open’ style. However, in the living room, we do have curtains at the moment, and there will be some in the new house as well. Specifically, the track system from IKEA with these sliding curtains called "Kvartal."

Traditional curtains are not really our thing.

Best regards,

Andreas

Short answer: today we went crazy at IKEA and bought about 30 meters (100 feet) of tracks, including clamp rails and curtains.

What I don’t understand, though, is that IKEA sells curtains that are not washable because they’re made of paper—uhhh, yeah, whoever likes that?

I have a question for everyone who has built with a ceiling height of 260cm (102 inches), specifically regarding window sizes.

If we set the windows at a sill height of 90cm (35 inches) and allow 30cm (12 inches) for the roller shutter box, that leaves an opening height of 140cm (55 inches). Did you make full use of this space, or how did you approach it?

Especially if we want windows 200cm (79 inches) wide, we would end up with very large windows.

Thank you for your input.

You also need to take the lintel and, depending on the floor, possibly the ring beam into account.
Our non-floor-to-ceiling windows have a height of just under 80cm (31 inches). We preferred this visually since some of them are continuously 2m (6 ft 7 inches) wide.
Otherwise, I would have chosen a height of about 1-1.10m (39-43 inches).

Our windows, which are not floor-to-ceiling, have a height of just under 80cm (31.5 inches). We preferred this visually since some of them are also continuously 2m (6 ft 7 inches) wide.
Otherwise, I would have chosen a height of around 1 to 1.10m (3 ft 3 inches to 3 ft 7 inches).

And what sill height did you choose then?
