Hello everyone,
I’m interested in knowing which ceiling height you have chosen or are likely to choose.
Are you satisfied with your choice? Looking back, would you choose a different ceiling height? If yes, why?
Best regards
Ddorfer
P.S. For the survey, please select the ceiling height that is closest to yours.

We still have to build first... so we don’t have that problem yet...
We’re not really fans of curtains; we prefer a more “Dutch open” style. However, at the moment, we do have curtains in our living room, and there will be some in the new house as well. Specifically, we use the sliding curtain track system from Ikea with their “Kvartal” sliding curtains.
Classic curtains are not really our thing.
Best regards,
Andreas

Hi Bauexperte,
thanks, although I can’t change it, it’s somewhat reassuring to hear that the general contractor isn’t completely overcharging...
Overall, they seem to act fairly and honestly in our case. However, we have only a plastered wall with external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) and no brick veneer. A brick veneer wall is basically a double wall—could that make it significantly more expensive?
Best regards,
Andreas

It’s crazy, but in your case, I’d say the price for the additional storey is quite reasonable. For the previous poster, it’s definitely too high.

Since we're talking about high ceilings, how did you handle the curtains?
We are considering mounting the track directly on the ceiling. We mounted the tracks directly on the ceiling. It looks neat.

I think curtain rods are outdated now.
Is there anything more modern? Nowadays, it’s becoming common to not use curtains at all. In our neighborhood (with well over 100 houses), only a tiny fraction have curtains. Why? They don’t look good.
Alternative: pleated blinds (plissees) on more prominent windows. When you don’t want anyone to see inside, just pull them down. Otherwise, they are gathered up and almost invisible.
By the way, we decided against both curtains and pleated blinds. Windows are meant for looking out, not for covering up.
