Hello everyone,

I’m interested in knowing which ceiling height you have chosen or are likely to choose.

Are you satisfied with your choice? Looking back, would you choose a different ceiling height? If yes, why?

Best regards
Ddorfer

P.S. For the survey, please select the ceiling height that is closest to yours.

Well, if I can see whether sixteen houses have curtains or pleated blinds, that sounds quite limited.

My office is in the attic (with two full floors below), so my eye level is almost 8m (26 feet) high – it definitely gives an advantage in overview when you have one of the tallest houses in the area.

Well, I can still easily see over 20-30 meters (65-100 feet) at night without glasses, so I don’t think it matters if someone is walking around naked near floor-to-ceiling windows.
PS: If I looked like Brad Pitt, maybe I wouldn’t care either.

And I find it too bare without curtains.

Hi,

Do you always want to see that...?

Your neighbor probably would...

I'll get back to the topic.
We have received advice from several people who have already built: "build one more row of bricks higher on the ground floor."
We have planned a large open-plan living and dining area with a ceiling height of 2.69 meters (8 feet 10 inches, measured from the floor to the underside of the ceiling structure). I imagine a lower ceiling would feel "oppressive."
I don't know the additional cost, as this was a basic requirement for us.
However, I would rather save money in other areas.

When I bought our house back then, I didn’t really care about the ceiling height.
Of course, the high ceilings were a selling point—but honestly, whether it was included in the price or not was completely "whatever" to me.

Only after moving in (we also have a large open-plan living/dining/kitchen area) did I gradually realize the very pleasant feeling the relatively high ceilings create, at least from our personal experience.

Now we are VERY glad to have them.
The relatively small house (for two people) gains an impressive sense of spaciousness because of it.

When visiting neighbors (with ceiling heights of 2.55 - 2.6 m [8 ft 4 in – 8 ft 6 in]), I strangely notice the difference immediately.

Whether passing through interior doors or going outside: you somehow feel you have "room" above your head. It’s relaxing.

In a larger house, I imagine it would be even better and more beautiful—with high ceilings.

Best regards,
Thorsten
